South East Local Enterprise Partnership wins £442.2 million ‘Growth Deal’ funding to boost jobs and homes.

Major investment in transport & business support earmarked for Kent and Medway.

The Government has announced that the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SE LEP) has secured a £442.2 million funding package to boost economic growth across Kent, Medway, East Sussex and Essex – with a particular focus on transport schemes that will bring new jobs and homes.

This includes major transport and business support projects in Kent and Medway including:

  • the investment of £6.0m in a Kent and Medway Growth Hub.
  • £19.8m to be invested in congestion and pinch point transport projects in Kent and Medway, plus £48.3m to be invested in integrated & sustainable transport projects in Kent and Medway.
  • improvements to the A28 Chart Road in Ashford (£10.2m)
  • an integrated transport package for Maidstone (£8.9m)
  • a new link road in Canterbury (Sturry Road) (£5.9m)
  • a new parkway station in Thanet (£10.0m)
  • improvements to the Thurrock cycling network (£5.0m)
