Accountancy software provider Sage has announced that there has been unauthorised access to customer data. Sage have reported that a “small number of UK customers” have been affected and it is unclear at the moment, whether any data has been stolen.

Sage are currently contacting those who may be affected by this data breach which is thought to have been due to an internal login.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), responsible for enforcing the Data Protection Act 1998, has been informed and the police have confirmed that they are investigating the situation.
