Anti avoidance measures seem to be working

HMRC have today posted details on the UK’s tax gap, the difference between the amount of tax they believe is due and the amount they collected in the financial year 2014-15. The drop to an estimated 6.5% or £36 billion is not only the lowest UK tax gap ever reported but is also, HMRC report, one of the lowest tax gaps in the world. This drop comes as a result of their tighter tax avoidance measures and controls, RTI posting and efforts to make the UK tax system digitalised.
